As Alfardan’s first foray into sustainable design, the Burj Alfardan was designed following an integrated bottom up approach in order to maximize achieving a 3 star rating as per the GSAS Commercial v2.1-2016 requirements and to minimize the building’s energy and water consumption as well as its carbon footprint. In addition, BurjAlfardanfollows a holistic approach in adopting measures that meet the requirements of other GSAS categories including Urban Connectivity, Site, Indoor Environment, Management and Operations and Materials. Following the completion of construction, several floors of the tower have been outfitted for medical use as a clinic which makes the project a mixed-use building with overall 75/25 split between office and medical typologies. The project has now attained GSAS approvals for both medical and office uses.
